We’re all stewards

We care about the things we have now and what we’ll leave behind for future generations. Why buy new products when you can find second hand alternatives in great condition? The same thing goes for buildings and all the components in our homes. We do our best on each project to keep and protect what’s already installed in the house; no sense in starting from scratch. Then we replace the parts that have outlived their use or lifespan and add in super-efficient components to help your old home perform better than code and better than new.

Responsibility

After all the hard work is done, let’s make sure everything works as it should. Even the best built homes have hiccups from time to time. We’ll go over each system from top to bottom to make sure your home functions as good as it looks, and make sure that you understand why it does what it does.

What good is a healthy home if living there is confusing for the occupants and users? But just as important as that is the enlisting of third party verification of every mechanical component to maximize the performance of the home.

Efficiency

Being efficient shouldn’t mean sacrificing creature comforts. The US EPA WaterSense and EnergyStar programs have simplified the process of making your home more efficient through reducing water and electricity waste. We use these checklists as a foundational part of improving your home.

When building with WaterSense, homeowners will see hot water faster, more drought tolerant landscapes, and a near 30% improvement on overall water use. The same goes for EnergyStar homes. By choosing EnergyStar labeled appliances and equipment, electronics and lighting, homeowners typically see a significant reduction in energy use. Ironically, it all looks exactly the same! Your high efficiency fixtures and appliances look and feel like nothing’s changed, except they work better than ever. The biggest difference is the money you’ll save every month just for using less.

Appraisal Value

Another great reason to improve your home is the bump in appraisal value. When making it more sustainable, you get an even bigger bump! Not only are you feeling great inside your home and doing good for the environment, but you’re also adding more value by going above and beyond the building code.

The Appraisal Institute even has a Residential Green and Energy Efficient Addendum to help appraisers understand the extra steps you’ve taken to improve your home and assess it properly.

Durability

A long lasting home can endure whatever the environment sends its way. We use building science to detail your home for the climate you’re in, and plan for the changes it might see in years ahead.

Climate shifts over time have made a significant impact in certain cities around the globe, and it’s only a matter of time before we see even more change. We take care to help protect your home against driving rain and wind, floods, fires and the weight of snow and ice.
